Autumn for Chrysanthemum, Chongyang for Dad and Mom
– CISDUS Paying Respect to the Elderly on the Doble-ninth Festival
On October 28, Confucius Institute of Suan Dusit University at Suphanburi (CISDUS) held a party for the elderly on the Double Ninth Festival (Chongyang) at the Bangkok campus of Suan Dusit University to promote the excellent traditions of Chinese culture. As the host, Dr. Pitauk Chancharoen, Vice President of Suan Dusit University and the council chairman of the CISDUS, presented flowers and wishes to 50 invited senior leaders, experts and retired teachers of Suan Dusit University, having won ardent praise from the guests present. They all said that such activities truly reproduced the fruitful results of cultural exchanges between China and Thailand, and further strengthened the emotion and friendship between the two peoples.
It is reported that as soon as Dr. Sirote Pholpuntin, President of Suan Dusit University heard that the CISDUS would hold such an event, he immediately arranged for relevant departments to purchase hundreds of pots of artificially cultivated chrysanthemum with various colors at a high price. A small chrysanthemum garden was specially made inside the campus for the elderly to enjoy chrysanthemums, gather together and take pictures on the Double Ninth Festival.
This activity of the CISDUS has not only promoted the spirit of respecting the elderly in Chinese culture, but also enhanced the level and connotation of cultural exchanges between China and Thailand. It was highly praised by the teachers and students of Suan Dusit University and greatly strengthened Thai people’s willingness and determination to learn Chinese and know more about China.
